The case of the missing dollar

Three guys walk into a store. They buy a TV for 30 dollars and walk out, on their way home to watch the eagles play in the 2006 grand final. The manager comes back from lunch just as they are walking out, and tells the sales person the TV was actually 27 dollars, not 30. Being an eagles fan, the salesman gets 5 dollars out of the cash register and chases down the men. Unsure how to divide 5 dollars between 3 people evenly though, he keeps two dollars in his pocket and gives one dollar to each of the three men.
So the three men have now paid 9 dollars each.
3 x $9 is $27.
There is $2 in the salesman’s pocket.
$27 + $2 = $29.
Where did the missing dollar go?

Whay add the $2 to the $27?? It's a trick - the reader assumes the question gives them sensible maths but it doesn't.

The men paid $30 and should get $1 back each ($3 total) to make the TV proce $27. So the saleman should give them $3 - which he does ($5 the manager give the saleman - the $2 the saleman keeps = $3 refunded)

$27 the men are charged - $2 the saleman keeps is a meaningless sum.

Do I win?
