Well another footy season ends with dissapointment as the Wet Toast held off the defiant swannies in the dying seconds. The blue and gold filling the Melbourne streets all week was a bit nauseating but be careful what you say to Whitegoose and Jane as they takes their dirty birds very seriously indeed. Here's an example of post-game revelry...they were flying high, naturally

Hahaha Nice work Paul!

What a weekend. What a game. What a team. I could write a whole fucking novel on the awesome experiences I had over the weekend. The excitement. The spontaneous cheering on the plane and on the street. The unity, the passion. The chant of EEEEAAAA-GGGGLLEEESSS rumbling up from the depths of the MCG as thousands made their way to their seats. The embraces shared with strangers, the knowing smiles, “G’days” and high fives. People who would normally ignore each other on the street are suddenly unified, old friends – it was amazing. Seriously. This must be what sport is all about – more than yelling at a TV screen with your mates – It’s about investing time, emotion, belief and thoughts in a group of people. It’s about following and supporting these people through years of their quest to achieve a single goal, sharing in their brilliant highs and crushing lows. It’s watching the years all build up and culminate in a single day, one opportunity, one point. It is, with thousands of other people who have all followed the same path to this moment as you have, watching this group of players achieve what they have been striving for and experiencing the relief and the joy and the pride exploding out of the stadium, out of the streets. Fucking awesome.

Or I could just still be buzzing from the win, a bit overly excited. Maybe it is just about yelling at a TV screen with your mates?

Anyway, I thought Embers was a brilliant choice for the Norm Smith - Bennett even picked it. I thought he deserved it - 2 crucial goals (they were all crucial in a 1 point game!) both on the run and countless crucial marks in our backline. Plus it's twice as cool because it wasn't any of the usual suspects.

Also loved it when Woosh and Judd called Cousins up to hold the cup – I think he enjoyed it!

imagine being involved in an event (wc) when the whole country (80 million) feels and behaves that way. and then celebrating with 15 thousand members of your own country, in the middle of a city in this country. people still sing football songs, wave flags on their cars and buy novelty stuff, and the wc was months ago.
