5 years – detained, caged, solitary confinement

Justice for DAVID HICKS

Please come to a rally being held at the Perth Cultural Centre on Saturday 9 December to call for justice for David Hicks. This action is being organised by a group of concerned community members.

This event will mark five years of unlawful and indefinite detention of hundreds of people, including Australian citizen David Hicks, at the US Naval Base at Guantánamo Bay in Cuba. Like many others, David is being detained without charge, without trial and without access to family or consular assistance. Many countries, including Britain, have demanded the return of their citizens and it is time for the Australian Government to do the same.

It was good thanks. About 350 people which we were happy with given what a short time frame we had to organise it in. Also good speakers, good media coverage and we raised about $1000 cash from shaking tins. We're doing a letter writing campaign in January to mark five years since the opening of Guantanamo Bay - I'll keep you posted.
